Slot Management: How to Test the Motors on the VTM Machine

For operators and technicians verifying motor functionality during machine setup or troubleshooting.

Use Slot Management to spin each motor and confirm it works. Do this when you set up a machine and any time an aisle is not vending right.

1. Open the Admin Menu

  1. Hold your finger on the top right corner of the touchscreen for 3 seconds.

  2. Enter the admin password and tap Confirm. Need the password? See Machine Setup: Admin Password and Navigation Bar.

  3. The Admin Menu opens.

2. Open Slot Management

  1. Tap Slot Management.

  2. Every aisle number is listed with its motor. You can also adjust the number of products in each aisle here.

3. Test each motor with Debug

  1. Tap Debug next to an aisle (for example, aisle 1) to spin that motor.

  2. Keep the machine door open and watch the motor. It should turn one full 360°, no more and no less.

  3. Test each aisle 3 times.

If the motor turns a full 360° every time, the aisle is ready for product.

The "Please contact administrator" alert

If you tap Debug on an aisle with no product loaded, the machine sounds "Please contact administrator." Nothing drops, so the sensor sees no vend and raises the alert. This is normal during testing. Wait for the alert to finish, then test the next aisle.

Test vend with product loaded

Debug also runs a real test vend. Load the aisle with product, close the door, and tap Debug. The product should drop off the tray, clear the wall on the way down, and land in the exit, also called the prize door, where the customer picks it up. Run several test vends after any coil or tray change.

Before you stock a route, test a full aisle: load the coil completely, vend it down to empty, and watch every drop.

This video walks through testing aisles and motors.

If a motor fails the test

A motor that does not turn a full 360° every time needs attention. Contact VTM Support with your machine serial number and the aisle number. To swap a motor, see Machine Hardware: Replace Motor.

Motor passes, but products still jam?

Then the cause is almost always coil size or coil position, not the motor. See Products Not Vending "Right", Coils, Jams, Motors. Vending booster packs? See Pokémon & TCG Vending: Setup, Refund Sensor, and Jams.
